Moreover, the methods the teacher employs are almost impossible to describe, standardize and control for experimental Disgraced 18 purposes . We may be able to analyse pornpros, as we have done in previous chapters, the various techniques of applied linguistics which are involved in the making of teaching materials. But it is difficult, if not impossible, inmost cases to disetangle these various components in an experimental evaluation. For example, if we wished to investigate the contribution of a syllabus, we should have to produce two or more alternative syllabuses each of which was realized in the same sort of teaching materials, or if we wished to evaluate our pedagogical grammars, we should have to have the same syllabus realized in two or more different sets of teaching Disgraced 18 by pornpros materials.
The second difficulty is just as serious. Since evaluation necessarily involves comparisons of one sort or another, and since experimentation involves holding all factors under control except the one we are investigating, it would be necessary, when evaluating the teacher and his methods, for example, to have the same children taught with the same materials by two different teachers. But how can this be done? Since they cannot be taught simultaneously by two teachers (only successively) they will not be 'the same children' for the second teacher.
